The 54th annual fishing rodeo at Cypremort point went well for the fisherman. The weather however is a different story. Fishing was rough and raining Friday but still didn’t stop the competition. Friday was one of the best opening days we’ve seen in a long time. We weighed in about 20 to 25 boats. The runabout division had two break downs and the anglers were unable to make the weigh in time for the first day. But, they were up and running the next day. The inside division had 5 breakdowns. Saturday rough, rough, rough. Some anglers came in early to weigh just to get out of the wave action. But still had a steady day with a lot of fish hitting the board mostly on the inside division. We had appox. 250 anglers, about 50 boats all weekend and total pay outs across the boards was around $5000.00. The junior division was still the division that gains the attention. The younger anglers fished hard no matter what the weather was like. Surprisingly the hard fishing didn’t break any records but some did come close.
